About Me.
Besides my children and family, my greatest passions have always been fly fishing, space, and photography. Over time, I’ve discovered how these worlds overlap—each one teaching me patience, rhythm, and appreciation for small, beautiful moments.
When I was 17, my photography teacher submitted three of my photos to the New York State Photo Competition. To my surprise, I won 1st place for Landscape, 1st place for Portrait, and 2nd place for Action. That early recognition fueled my fascination with capturing light, motion, and emotion through a lens.
Not long after, I joined the Army, and life became more complex. Between work, service, and raising a family, photography quietly slipped into the background. But even as the years passed, that creative spark never disappeared—it just waited for the right time to come back.
Now, with life a little steadier and my youngest nearly grown, I’ve decided to return to photography—this time with a clearer purpose and a deeper sense of gratitude.
Where Fly Fishing Meets Photography
Fly fishing has always been my sanctuary. It’s where I slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the world around me. The quiet rhythm of casting feels a lot like photography: timing, patience, awareness, and trust in the process.
Fly fishing photography gives me a way to merge those worlds—to capture the serenity between casts, the mist on the water at sunrise, and the fleeting reflections that only last a moment. It’s not just about the fish—it’s about the feeling of being there.
Looking Up: My Love for Space
When I’m not on the water, I’m often looking up. Astrophotography connects my curiosity about the universe with my desire to find peace in stillness. Photographing the Milky Way, the moon, or a sky full of stars reminds me how vast and fragile our world really is.
There’s a quiet magic in standing beneath that expanse, camera in hand, waiting for the perfect moment of light to meet shadow.
Rediscovering the Art
I grew up on film—spending long nights in the darkroom, watching images slowly appear on paper under red light. Today, digital cameras and editing tools let me explore creativity in new ways, but the essence hasn’t changed. Photography is still about emotion, patience, and perspective.
My old teacher once said I had “an eye” for it. Finding that eye again will take time—but that’s the beauty of the journey.
Come Along With Me
This new chapter is about bringing it all together—nature, light, fly fishing, and the night sky—to build a portfolio that captures both serenity and wonder.
So come along with me as I rebuild from the ground up. Follow my journey as I explore rivers, mountains, and starlit skies—learning, experimenting, and rediscovering the joy of photography one image at a time.
